Are you interviewing elsewhere? One of the most common interview questions, but one that tends to catch candidates off guard.
When interviewers ask whether or not you’re interviewing at other companies, they’re usually trying to understand two things: how active you are in your search and how quickly they need to make an offer.
Here's how you can answer confidently.
If you’re early in your search:
It’s perfectly fine to say yes. Explain that you’re exploring a few opportunities that align with your background and career goals, while also highlighting how this specific role caught your attention.
If you’re actively interviewing elsewhere:
Be open and honest. Let the hiring manager know that you’re in the process of interviewing for another role, but you’re still very interested in the present opportunity.
Answering honestly while expressing genuine interest in the role not only shows confidence and professionalism, but also signals that employers may need to move quickly to secure you.
